5.13. Notification Options and SMS Carrier

When a patron registers for a card, it can be an ideal time to ask them how they like to receive their notices/notifications.

Most SPARK libraries offer an option for the patron to select a standard preference for how they want to receive hold notifications.

Ask the customer when they register if they prefer Phone, Email, and/or SMS (text message) for their hold notifications.

Special Note:  Those who prefer SMS text message must enter their number with no punctuation, as well as provide the carrier of their cellular service.  Many patrons may not know their Carrier, but you can use Free Carrier Lookup or Free SMS Gateway to find the carrier. 

If the carrier does not appear on the list, they can be added in Server Administration as long as we have the email gateway used by the carrier.
